AGENDAS & MINUTES Council Meetings Agendas & Minutes

Council Meetings are held on the last Wednesday of every month, starting at 6.30pm unless otherwise state below at Malton Town Council, The Wesley Centre, 10-12 Saville Street, Malton YO17 7LL

Annual Town Council Meeting
Malton Town Council’s Annual Town Meeting is held in April each year and is an opportunity for all Malton residents to express their views and ask questions about issues in the town. It is also an opportunity for the Town Council to inform members of the public about work and activities undertaken during the preceding year.

Mayor Making
The election of the Town Mayor takes place at the May meeting each year, the Mayor is selected from among the town councillors. Councillor Ian Conlan is proud to be elected Malton's Mayor for the current municipal year. Councillor Lindsay Burr was elected Deputy Mayor.

Inviting the Mayor to Your Event
If you wish to invite the Mayor of Malton to attend your event or you are seeking her support, please send an email to Mrs Gail Cook, Clerk to Malton Town Council via email: clerk@malton-tc.gov.uk or by post to The Wesley Centre, 10-12 Saville Street, Malton, North Yorkshire, YO17 7LL

All invitations received will be discussed with the Mayor and a decision made depending upon the civic diary. If the Mayor is available to attend your event an acceptance letter or email will be sent to you. In the event that the Mayor is unable to attend, the invitation will be passed on to the Deputy Mayor for consideration, and the appropriate response sent.

In order that we may maintain a complete record of events in the civic diary, please do not contact the Mayor directly or send correspondence to their home. All communication must be done through the Malton Town Council office.

When inviting the Mayor, please give some thought to what you wish to achieve by having the Mayor at your function and what you would like the Mayor to do. This may include giving a presentation, receiving a cheque, reading a lesson, making a speech or drawing a raffle. It would be useful if you could provide some background information about your organisation and the event. This is especially important if you wish the Mayor to make a speech. Please make someone available to greet the Mayor on arrival, and accompany them on their visit.

Please also bear in mind that the Mayor often has several civic engagements throughout the day and will need to leave your event on time in order to maintain their schedule.
